Jennifer Swim Lesson Manager I have over 8 years experience teaching all levels and ages how to swim and was a competitive swimmer for 10 years. I especially enjoy working with beginning swimmers and believe in using encouragement and positive feedback to help children become safe and confident swimmers. I have experience working with children with developmental delays and Autism both in and out of the pool. I am a speech therapist during the school year and swim instructor during the summers |

Elise (Central and South Valley) I specialize in competitive water polo and swimming, I participated in both sports all 4 years of college. I have NCAA Division 1 experience in both. I have also taught springboard diving lessons as well. I have taught all ages 0+. I have 12 years experience working with children outside the pool along with college courses in child development. My teaching methods make the learning process fun and memorable. I like to challenge the swimmer with games and pool toys. I keep the learning environment calm and stress free so that the child can progress at a rate that is comfortable, yet challenging. |

Annelie (Altadena/Pasadena Swim Instructor) 11 years experience, all ages Mother of a 13-year-old boy First Aid and CPR Certified |
Ellen (West and South Valley) Lifeguard, WSI, CPR, First Aid, AED 6 years experience Age Group Competitive Coach (10 years) Stroke Improvement Synchronized Swimming. I competed with a Nationally ranked synchro team in my Jr. High, HS, college days, and then coached for about 2 years. Teaching swimming is great because I get to be with kids, doing something that I love, and having fun. Maybe I'm part dolphin! My philosophy is to make the water a friendly environment by teaching basic safety and survival skills first, then gradually adding swimming technique. A lot of work? But it doesn't seem like it, because of playful presentation. My long term goal is that students will keep swimming their whole lives, since I believe it is the best exercise. |
Lisa I have taught lessons for 4 years at three different pools. I also was a pool supervisor for one year. I spent a summer abroad and improved my swimming skills while surfing on the Australian east coast. For 6 years I swam competitively. I love teaching children, and believe there is no better feeling then watching a young beginner learn to swim by the end of lessons! |

Newsha I am a UC Davis graduate with degrees in Human Development and American Studies. I have been working with children for years in different settings, have taught swim lessons and guarded for 4 years, and helped to coach a children's swim team at a summer camp. In my lessons, I concentrate on making younger children feel comfortable and relaxed in the water. I like encouraging kids to have fun in the water by playing games and keeping each lesson exciting and a little different from the last. I strive to help each child conquer their biggest obstacles in the water while also feeling safe, having fun, and becoming capable swimmers. |
Matt I am certified in CPR, Lifeguard Training and First Aid, Public Safety, and WSI. I am a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard. I have over 6 years of swimming experience, and over 3 years of swim lessons and lifeguard experience. I am currently a High School Swimming and Water Polo Assistant Coach. It is my goal to make sure every student I instruct will learn how to stay safe in all types of water, as well as learning how to swim and be comfortable in the water. |

I have swam competitively for 16 years and played water polo for 9. I was MVP and a college All American for both. I'm a senior at CSULB, majoring in Interior Design. I would describe myself as having a very bubbly and outgoing personality! I want my students to learn safety and techniques, while having a blast doing it. I have a passion for the water and I hope to pass it on to my students! :) |
Josh (West Side) 9 years lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. I am a fun loving adult that enjoys teaching and working with children. I come from a large family that grew up with a pool in the backyard. Fun and water safety are my first priorities as a Lifeguard, and I have taught multiple children from level 0 and are now swimming on competitive teams placing in the top 3 in freestyle, butterfly, backstroke, and breast stroke. Future goals are to open my own youth program that specializes in finding an activity that each individual child enjoys,..which may be swimming, shuffle board, basketball and anything in between...as long as our children of the future are having some fun, enjoying the sun, and being active!!! |
Jack (Pasadena, San Gabriel Valley) I have been teaching swimming lessons for 7 years. I have taught all ages from tots to adults and I also have taught adaptive kids. I also speak Vietnamese. I believe that everyone is able to learn how to swim and it just takes time and commitment. I like to teach little kids because I see a lot of improvement in them, and I am happy when the kids I teach have gone on to join private swim teams--success! |
Mike (Hollywood/Los Feliz/Pasadena/East Valley) I began swimming competitively at the age of 5, and swam for Harvard University, where I studied psychology. I have more than 7 years experience teaching swim lessons to children of all ages and skill levels, as well as adults. I am CPR and first aid certified and not as fluent in Spanish as I should be. I really enjoy working with children, and try to make sure the kids I teach are having fun and learning at the same time. |
Emma (North Valley / Santa Clarita) I have been teaching swim lessons during summers and year round for five years. I started competitively swimming when I was 10, and swam up until college when I played water polo and ended my career as the captain of my team. While I was in college I taught year round and because there was always a shortage of mommy and me teachers, I have a lot of experience working with children 3 years and under. I also love technique and stroke work because of my competitive background. I have an intense passion for the water; every time I jump into the pool I have a blast. Safety is my number one priority, I like to get to know each child and work at their own individual pace. I try to show children that the water is not a scary place. Once children are having fun they are much easier to work with and more open to trying new things. |
Jeanne (Long Beach / Orange County) years lifeguarding-5 years teaching- 3 I have taught beginning swim lessons for adults and really enjoyed it. I really enjoy teaching the little and big ones. I enjoy teaching children because chances are if you are working with kids, you cannot go more than a few minutes without smiling or laughing, and end up having as much fun as them. I enjoy teaching adults because they usually have come to think of swimming as omething they would never be able to do, and it is of course very fulfilling to help someone work past their fears, and empower them to feel strong about something they never thought they would. |

Jess (West LA) I have taught private lessons since 2001. I have had the privilege of teaching all ages and levels, from mommy and me, toddlers, teens to adults and seniors learning to swim for the first time. I think water safety is vital but also believe that a love and appreciation of the water can enrich anybody's life! |
Carla (San Fernando Valley / Hollywood) In 1992, I began teaching lessons in Virginia where I was raised and trained on a year round US Swim Team (for ten years). I have been lucky to teach in Washington State, Maui, Hi and in the Los Angeles area. I enjoy working with children and adults of all ages. I like to make each lesson individual in order to promote self-confidence, enable correct technique, and water safety. I also have experience working with children who have special needs such as fear of the water and autism. |
Melissa (San Fernando Valley) 5 years of swim instructor experience (Ages 2-adult). I am a recent graduate from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Sociology. I have always loved working with children and I have a special passion for teaching them how to swim. There is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a child go from a timid swimmer to a fish in the water. My teaching philosophy is that children should first feel comfortable and safe in the water, and then technique and skills will follow. My goal is for each one of my students to love being in the water as much as I do. |
